the band...

Steve is the mainstay of 'Toadd, having formed the band in 1985 with Dave Price on drums, Steve Winnitt on acoustic guitar and Paul Holt on electric guitar.  In parallel with 'Toadd  Steve has played with numerous other bands, including S.A.D., Kickback, The Hendersons (Beatles tribute) and Goldrush (Rush tribute) at local venues such as the Wulfrun Hall and Robin2, and further afield anywhere from Aberdeen to Bournemouth, and everywhere in between.  Eligh Toadd has however remained his first love and main compositional outlet.  The strong character based nature of the material led to much of the 'Toadd repertoire being worked into a rock musical called 'Drybread'.  This ran for two successful seasons at the Aldridge Youth Theatre and Walsall's Grange Theatre, and was also featured on Radio W.M.  Steve also currently performs with The Zeppelin 3 and Sabb-Earth.

Jack first picked up a guitar shortly before his fourteenth birthday, after being inspired by the simple, bluesy-rock guitar riffs of Keith Richards, who remained his biggest influence for a while before he discovered Jimmy Page who has had the most noticeable influence on his playing as well as other rock and blues guitarists such as David Gilmour, Gary Moore and Mick Taylor.

A young and enthusiastic musician, Jack is completely dedicated to his instrument, and spends a great deal of time practicing and playing the guitar, as well as listening to his favourite guitarists to learn something from their performances.

Before his first gig with Eligh Toadd Jack had never really listened to any progressive rock, apart from Al Di Meola's late 70's fusion albums, but playing in Eligh Toadd has led him to discover, among others, Steve Howe of Yes, who he now classes as one of his favourite guitarists.

John is an accomplished professional drummer, who has obtained a music degree from Wolverhampton University, studying composition, performance, ethnomusicology, orchestration and music technology.

John has recorded for Paul Weller's Respond Records in the 1980s, and at top studios such as PolyGram and Rockfield.  He has also appeared live on BBC TV and radio, as well as at venues up and down the country including; Ronnie Scott's.
